UGANDA Statistical Society (USS) will start a statistical journal before the end of the year.
UGANDA Statistical Society (USS) will start a statistical journal before the end of the year, Abraham Owino, the society’s secretary, has said, writes Doreen Kansiime.
“The journal aims at promoting understanding of statistical development particularly in East Africa and Africa,†Owino said.
He said the journal would cover Uganda, and other countries like Mozambique, Ethiopia and Sudan.
“Many people outside Africa lack access to statistical information from this content. Many of our friends abroad are excited about being able to access our statistics,†Owino said.
He said the first issue of the journal would be released in November during the statistical week.
Owino said USS and the Uganda Bureau of Statistics would be in charge to provide user-friendly statistical information.
He said the journal’s editorial team had five professional statisticians with Prof. Ben Kiregyera as the chairman.
Meanwhile, USS elected a new cabinet with Prof. James Ntozi as the chairman.
Owino said the new office bearers and the journal were a fresh start for the society, which plans to make statistics more user friendly.
