“DID I hear right? This is the best news we have received this year!” was what Ntare School headmaster Humphrey Ahimbisibwe said when he was told that his school produced the best three students in Mbarara district.

Joshua Birungi, Adrian Murenzi and Barnet Asingura, who sat for the UCE last year, scored aggregate eight in the best eight subjects, becoming the best in Mbarara district.

“We expected very god results. It is not surprising. Last year, the boys really worked very hard because they were struggling to win the scholarship set up by the Old Boys,” Ahimbisibwe said.

In 1997, old boys from Ntare School established the award of a full scholarship to students who score aggregate eight in the best eight subjects if they returned to the school for A’ Level. The scholarship also applies to students who score AAAA at A’ level.

Ahimbisibwe said, “They were boys of exemplary behaviour. Now the old boys must provide the money for the scholarships.”
President Paul Kagame of Rwanda is one of the Old Boys.
