AS the country celebrated the 19th NRM anniversary on Wednesday, a family member of the slain Luttamaguzi, one of the first guerrilla collaborators in Semuto in Luweero district, said the family got a raw deal.

Lt. John Kaddu, a brother of the late Luttamaguzi and a former bush fighter, said Luttamaguzi’s dependants had not been helped despite numerous pledges by President Yoweri Museveni.

Luttamaguzi, who hosted the first NRA guerrilla base in Semuto, was brutally killed in 1981 by the then government forces, who accused him of collaborating with the Museveni-led National Resistance Army (NRA) rebels.

Kaddu said the June 8, 1981 incident marked the beginning of NRA’s victory over the UNLA forces.

He said despite Luttamaguzi’s contribution, his grave is like that of any ordinary person without any decoration.

“The family has been so neglected,” said Kaddu, who is the caretaker of Luttamaguzi’s family.
“The children now think I received the money and ate it,” Kaddu added.
