WHEREAS most Ugandans know pine simply as a tree species that is good for roofing and firewood, this plant has enormous medicinal value. Because of the high demand for making natural medicine, this tree species can actually help Ugandans out of poverty.

Pine is one of the best remedies for people who are always blaming themselves, sometimes for things that are not of their making. Such people tend to be hard on themselves and their thought patterns often take on a quality of self-punishment. They often do not feel good enough and may feel that a sense of guilt is a good thing.
These people often come from strict backgrounds, sometimes religious.

They may have been taught to believe from an early age that taking pleasure in the good things in life is bad and even sinful.
They find it difficult to relax and their strong standards and opinions about what is wrong or sinful may surface as revulsions of anything to do with love and sex. They may feel these emotions and urges but then try to ignore them or keep them within.

If they allow their minds to wonder to such thoughts, they may feel guilty and that they are dirty or bad and sinful. They find it difficult to relax. Their strong opinions about what is wrong or sinful may surface as revulsions of anything to do with love and sex. They may feel these emotions and urges but then try to ignore them. If they allow their minds to wander into such thoughts, they feel guilty.
Such people also tend to apologise too much.

For instance, if they bump into someone, they say “sorry” many times. They even blame themselves when things go wrong for others. They feel they could have helped more or prevented them from making a mistake.

Remedy
This type of condition can be diagnosed by the person himself. There is no such medication yet in pharmacies that treat this disease. The remedy can be found in nature –– the pine.

Method/ preparation
The entire tree is useful. Whether you have the roots, bark or leaves, chop it into small pieces. Place two handfuls into a saucepan. Add one litre of water. Boil for 5-10 minutes and then allow it to cool. Massage the head with this water twice a day for about a week.

How it works
Pine helps the sufferers free themselves from the constraints of their pain and to control guilt. It helps them to stop apologising to the world for who they are and feel good about themselves.
It also helps them to accept the good and the bad aspects of themselves.

They need to fully accept the fact that they have a dark side before they can learn to work with it and transform it. Anyone who experiences guilt for something they feel they shouldn’t have done can benefit from the pine.
