NILE Bank has signed an agreement with Mbarara Municipal Council to receive tax payments and other dues.

NILE Bank has signed an agreement with Mbarara Municipal Council to receive tax payments and other dues.

The town clerk David Bashakara signed on behalf of the council while Enoch Byaruhanga, the Nile Bank Mbarara branch manager signed on behalf of the bank.

Byaruhanga said by taxpayers depositing directly, in the would help people develop the banking culture, which in turn will encourage them open their own accounts and start to save.

He said the council would be able to access regular statements from the bank, easing the monitoring of revenue collected by the three different divisions of Kakoba, Nyamitanga and Kamukuzi.

Traders will now be able to pay ground rent, tender fees, trading license fees and market dues to Nile Bank.
