KEFA Mwesigwa, the winner of Capital Radio’s 2003 Coca-Cola Real Stars competition died on Sunday at around 3:30pm.
The 20-year-old had been hospitalised in Hoima for about a week with malaria fever.
“I couldn’t believe it when his brother called to tell me that Kefa had died. We were supposed to have a concert last week, but he didn’t turn up. He called to tell me he wasn’t feeling fine. The following, day his sister called saying the malaria had intensified and Kefa was on drip,†said Mosh, his singing companion and member of The Jungle Beat Entertainment, a music group to which Kefa belonged.
Kefa had soared into Uganda’s music industry with popular hit songs - Better Man featuring Mosh and Get With You featuring Navio of Clear Kut.
Mosh had also featured him in his songs, Dance Carolina and Ragga Party.
Steve Jean, Kefa’s producer said: “He wanted to record an album, but he had decided to complete his studies first.†His burial takes place today in Hoima.
