TEN people died and 51 were injured when their lorry crashed near Ayugi Bridge in Djaipi sub-county, Adjumani district on Tuesday.

They were travelling from Gulu.
The driver, Patrick Rackara, said he lost control of the vehicle when a passenger suddenly stopped him.
“I thought we had entered into a rebel ambush so I stepped on the brakes suddenly when the passenger stopped me,” Rackara said.

The injured were rushed to Adjumani hospital.
The LC5 chairman, Nixon Awole, attributed the accident to speeding and overloading. Cars going to Adjumani, Moyo and Yumbe districts through Gulu move in convoys to reduce chances of rebels attacks.
