By Peter Kaujju Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) gets information about fake products, but fails to act due to lack of resources, UNBS’ head of Operation Q, Deus Mubangizi, has said. “At times, we have adequate information about fake products, but are under-facilitated because we have one vehicle, yet we have to work with other departments. The Government should come to our rescue by providing adequate funds,†Mubangizi said. “UNBS is very committed, but poorly facilitated. We need to equip our laboratory to international standards,†Dr. Terry Kahuma, the executive director of UNBS, said in Kampala on Friday. Kahuma said all their offices need to be refurbished. He said they had asked for funds from the Government for the last three financial years without success. Kahuma hailed United Nations Industrial Development Organisation for supporting them since 1997. Minister Jennifer Namuyangu, who toured UNBS’ offices, said the Government would improve remuneration for the bureau’s workers. Ends
