UPBC boss Celestino Mindra has tipped Badru Lusambya to be Uganda’s next world champion.
“He has the capacity and will,” said the Uganda Professional Boxing Commission (upbc) boss at Sabrina’s Pub yesterday while launching Lusambya’s next fight.

Lusambya, who has won eight of his nine fights by knockout, will take on Zambian champion Floyd Chongo in a 10-round non-title fight on April 17 at Sabrina’s Pub.

The fight is being organised by a Ugandan promotional group called The Big Strikers. Businessman Kantoloze Motoyoshi offered the fighter sh0.5m.

* UPBC will honour outstanding fighters, sponsors and journalists at a ceremony on Saturday.

The ceremony will be one of the events to mark the 42nd anniversary of the Africa Boxing Union (ABU).

UPBC’s activities to honour the day will include a dinner at Grand Imperial Hotel.
