FIRST Lady Janet Museveni has urged women to celebrate the women’s day around an annual achievement, which can be shared nationally and at family level, reports John Odyek.

Mrs. Museveni said this during celebrations to mark the women’s day at Bumbeire in Bushenyi district on Tuesday.

She congratulated Bushenyi Woman MP Mary Karooro and all women in Bushenyi on opening their bank.

Bushenyi Development Finance Trust was opened by the First Lady before the celebrations kicked off. She said by women coming out with such landmark achievements like the bank, the celebrations would be more meaningful in the women’s struggle to eradicate poverty.

Karooro commended the Movement government for policies aimed at uplifting women and girls. She thanked President Yoweri Museveni for uniting Ugandans.
Bushenyi district LC5 chairman Longino Ndyanabo said the district had embraced a number of projects aimed at improving the welfare of women.
