KAMPALA City Council (KCC) has given Kampala International University (KIU) land in Kabagala to construct a hostel and a recreational complex.
The land to be developed in partnership with KCC is located behind the university campus.
The Kampala District Council headed by Speaker Sarah Ssebagala resolved that the youth land be developed as per KCC’s five-year strategic plan for the youth.
KIU is owned by city tycoon Hassan basajjabala.
The city secretary for social improvement, Winnie Makumbi, yesterday said the committee was to meet KIU and work out the modalities.
She said although KIU would put up the structures, KCC would remain the owner of the land.
“We do not know how much KIU will inject in the project and how they will recover their money.
Those are the things we are to discuss. They might have expectations which we might not approve,†she said.
