This Constitutional petition was brought under Article 137 of the Constitution seeking declarations that judicial officers' salaries, allowances, privileges and retirement benefits and other conditions of service must not be subjected to any taxation whatsoever and an order that they are entitled to
--Their independence is of far greater importance than any revenue from taxing their salaries
