MPS from Uganda and Kenya have asked the two governments to take vital services and development programmes to pastoralists in eastern Uganda and northwestern Kenya.

“Lack of basic services has time and again caused conflicts between the Pokot and Sabiny,” the MPs said.

The MPs belonging to the AMANI Forum were attending a four-day inter-parliamentary dialogue on the Pokot/Sabiny conflict at Kitale Club in Kenya on Thursday. They said there was lack of commitment by the governments to address cattle rustling and insecurity in the region.

AMANI Uganda was represented by the state minister for Karamoja, Peter Lokeris and other officials.
