KYOTERA town residents who constructed houses in the wetlands have been ordered to leave the place by April.

National Environment Manage-ment Authority (NEMA) executive director Aryamanya Mugisha warned the residents not to sow more crops.
Mugisha was touring wetlands and forest reserves in Rakai district on Thursday.

However, some residents locked up their houses and hid on learning that NEMA officials were touring the place.

Mugisha said NEMA would not compensate property destroyed during the demolition exercise.

He warned Byakabanda town residents against cultivating near River Kibaale.
He allowed Rakai district leaders to construct a road through the forest reserve in Kabira sub-county.
