be consistent and reject UK aid as well

SIR— With all due respect to the pro-third term protesters, Sir Bob Geldof has every right to talk about and influence who should govern Uganda and indeed many African countries. I would love to see demonstrators at the British High Commission asking Britain to cut aid to Uganda.

SIR— With all due respect to the pro-third term protesters, Sir Bob Geldof has every right to talk about and influence who should govern Uganda and indeed many African countries. I would love to see demonstrators at the British High Commission asking Britain to cut aid to Uganda.

The same group should then proceed to Parliament, as they did on Monday, and direct their MPs not to authorise government to borrow or accept any funds from the UK.

These demonstrators should also submit a memorandum to Sir Bob, through the High Commission, telling him not to waste his energy campaigning for debt cancellation, because the well-endowed Uganda can ably pay all its debts. Put in simple terms, everybody must pay for his own meal. If I pay for the matooke your household feeds on, I may as well advise at what age your son goes to school.

I was surprised some of the demonstrators were university students.
Dear students, in the good old days, those universities had well-stocked libraries, let alone the living conditions. University education was free and the government borrowed less money than it does today.
