KAMPALA — Women MPs are to consult further on the Domestic Relations Bill which is currently contested by sections of society. The Uganda Women Parliamentary Association made the decision in a closed meeting at Parliament yesterday. The Bill aims at reforming and consolidating laws relating to marriage, separation and divorce.

Court rejects
KAMPALA — Buganda road court has rejected an application for treatment by the former property masters chief, Patrick Kasulu. Kasulu applied to be treated by his private doctor, saying there were only panadol and asprin drugs in Luzira prison. Kasulu said he had suffered from cerebral malaria for three days. Chief Magistrate Margaret Tibulya said Kasulu’s claims were not backed by medical evidence.

Chiefs meet
KAMPALA — President Yoweri museveni yesterday met the secretary general of the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) at State House Nakasero. Erastus Mwencha briefed the president on the progress of the activities in member countries of the trade body. President Museveni is the chairman of COMESA.

Movt mourns
KAMPALA — The movement Secretariat has sent condolences to the Buganda Kingdom over the death of Princess Alice Mpologoma Zalwango. “Her death at this time when the kingdom needs her wise counsel is a blow to the country. The Movement and the people of Uganda commiserate with you at this time,” said a statement to the kingdom from the Movement vice-chairperson, Al Haji Moses Kigongo.
