FORMER president Dr. Milton Obote’s brother, Obadia Akaki, has asked President Yoweri Museveni to expedite the renovation of Obote’s house in Lira town before he returns, reports Ali Mao.

Akaki, Obote’s elder brother, asked, “If the government does not renovate the house, where will he live when he returns?”

He said Museveni pledged to renovate the house when he visited Akaki in 2000.

Speaking from his home in Abeibuti village, Akokoro sub-county in Apac district last week, Akaki dispelled fears that Obote could be killed on his arrival at Entebbe Airport.

“President Museveni cannot shoot Obote,” he said.

Obote wishes to return for the Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) delegates’ conference.

A family member who spoke on condition of anonymity, however, asked President Museveni to clear the air on his alleged threat to kill Obote.

Akaki wrote to Museveni on October 24, 2000 to remind him of his pledge.
