THE Uganda Peoples Congress (UPC) is soon opening its office in Gulu, the party’s district organising committee chairman has said.

Anthony Orach was speaking on Tuesday at a UPC meeting at Cerelenu, Te-Gwana parish, Pece division, in Gulu municipality.

He said they were only waiting for permission from Kampala.

Orach said Dr. Apollo Milton Obote, an old boy of Gulu High School, had written a letter to be read to the students of the school in the near future. He did not reveal the content of the letter and who would read the letter to the students.

The meeting was aimed at electing 10 Gulu UPC delegates to an April 11, 2005 UPC national meeting in Kampala.

Up to 22 UPC supporters from Gulu Municipality, Nwoya, Aswa, Kilak and Omoro Counties attended the meeting.

The 10 delegates were former education officer Jackson Oballim, Anthony Orach, Willy Olango, Oola Odiya, Betty Ochan and Lucy Larubi, all of Gulu Municipality. Those from other counties were Adonga Phillips and Grace Ouma from Omoro, Patrick Okema from Nwoya and Simon Odwong from Aswa.

“UPC is registered and ready to face the election in 2006. The only task left is for us to mobilise the public to dance to the tune of UPC,” Orach said.
