AN official from the world basketball-governing body FIBA arrives in the country this evening for a six-day visit for an on-the-spot assessment of the level of basketball in Uganda. While here the FIBA International relations and Development director, Anipet Lavodram, will hold discussions with sports state minister Charles Bakkabulindi and NCS.

KIU test
Newcomers Kampala International University (KIU) will make their debut in the handball league today when they visit Makerere University for an encounter at the sports grounds. The women will have their first test as the men feature a week later.

Mubiru ban
St. Mary’s Kitende netball coach Rashid Mubiru has been banned for one year by Uganda Netball Federation. Mubiru ordered his players to walk off the pitch at this year’s novices final at Nakivubo. Gombe SS was leading Kitende 9-7. Meanwhile the national team will start training for the Zone V championship to be held in Kampala in July.
