St Mary’s College, Aboke in Apac district recently received relief items worth sh8m from St. Kalemba Secondary School in Nazigo sub-county in Kayunga district.
The donation was a result of a twining relationship between the two schools.
“We felt that we should assist Aboke students especially those who were once abducted by the LRA rebels,” John Mary Mpoza, the headmaster, said. About 100 girls were abducted from Aboke by the LRA rebels in the 1990s.
The donation included three bags of sugar, 50 blankets, five bags of maize floor, house utensils, 20 boxes of soap and other scholastic materials.
The college headmistress, Anny Mary Spiga, received the items at a function held at St Kalemba on Sunday.
Mpoza said each student contributed towards the donation.
He said the students pledged to continue helping the needy children to make them feel comfortable.
Mpoza asked people especially religious leaders to pray for the Aboke girls and their parents.
