Wilson Kipkemei equalled the national half-marathon record in a race in Paris, France on Monday. Kipkemei finished fifth in a time of 1:01:39.

Kipkemei equalled the record set by Godfrey Nyombi in 2000 in Italy.
Kipkemei is one of five Ugandan distance runners who have qualified for the World Athletics Championships to be held in Finland in August. Others are Dorcus Inzikuru, Boniface Kiprop, Alex Malinga and Pascal Owor.

Meanwhile, Martin Toroitich took part in only 28km of the Turin marathon as practice on Sunday and did not skip it as earlier reported.

Toroitich intends to make his full debut in the 42.km race at the Trieste marathon on May 8, when he intends to make the Ugandan team to Finland in August by running below 2:18:0.
