SIR — While many Pentecostal and SDA pastors have persistently criticised the pope and the entire Catholic doctrine and while LTV has ignored whatever is going on in the Vatican, Pastor Benny Hinn of the World Healing Centre Church has shown true Christian brotherhood that all churches should emulate.

Benny Hinn began by personally meeting Pope John Pau II. Then the picture of John Paul II began to appear daily at the beginning of “This is Your Day” telecast. He endured verbal persecution from fellow pastors that opposed his cooperation with the Catholic Church.

He went ahead to teach that Holy Communion is the true Body and Blood of Jesus, and fellow pastors called him a “Catholic Charismatic Priest” and “a God-eating Cannibal”.

In all this, I have been touched by Benny Hinn’s perseverance in proclaiming the truth. When John Paul II died, Benny Hinn attended his funeral service in St. Peter’s Square and in the next daily Television Programmes he mourned the late pope and enlightened us about the late pontiff'’s holiness.

On April 22, Benny Hinn broadcast a special tribute to Pope John Paul II. He has produced a documentary, for all his partners the world over, highlighting John Paul’s life, reign and achievement.

He has clarified about the allegations often rumoured about the Catholic Church and has insisted that the Catholic Catechism is the true gospel. He has also promised to work with the new pope.

As a Catholic, I feel challenged by Benny Hinn’s stand for the truth. I feel he has understood the true gospel of love that Jesus taught. He has moved to the whole world preaching the same gospel without discriminating against anybody.

His example proves that we can live with differences but without conflicting. Let us emulate his example as we follow and serve Christ in our different Churches. May God bless Pastor Benny Hinn.
