SC Villa lethal striker Bernard Mwalala, who suffered an ankle injury against Somalia side Elman here on Monday, has quickly recovered.

Mwalala resumed training yesterday and is expected to be fully fit when Villa face Rayon Sport of Rwanda tomorrow.

Mwalala, vying for the top scorers' award, will come face to face with Rayon's Ugandan forward Haruna Mawa who is also gunning for the same award.

Villa secretary Luyimbazi Mugalu was relieved to have Mwalala back.

“It is a tough match, we are glad Mwalala has been training. We need to win that match to qualify for the semifinals before our last match,” Luyimbazi said.

First choice goalkeeper Dennis Onyango who was down with malaria had responded to treatment yesterday. “Onyango will be able to go for training tomorrow (today) morning. I hope he will have fully recovered on Friday," Luyimbazi added.

Coach Sam Timbe and his assistant Ibrahim Kirya maintained their 11.00am-1.30pm training to acquaint the team to playing under high temperatures ahead of the 2.30pm Rayon game.

Rayon, meanwhile, pipped Elman 1-0 to share group B top position with Villa on six points each.

Abeid Mulenda struck in the 13th minute for the team whose assistant coach is former Express tactician Abo Koroma.

Uganda FIFA referee Arthur Bukenya handled the game.
Atletico of Burundi fought gallantly to hold Tanzani’a Simba to a goalless draw.
