IGANGA — Men who make disabled women pregnant and then abandon them should be prosecuted, the country representative for Action on Disability and Development has said. Christine Matovu was on Friday presiding over the first phase of the handover of sh20m worth of farm implements and bicycles to Iganga Disabled Women Association (IDWA) at IDWA offices.

Awori raps
NAIROBI — Uganda opposition MP Aggrey Awori has hit out at the British Government for allegedly abetting corruption in Kenya, saying premier Tony Blair was aware of the muliti-billion scandal that rocked Kenya last year. He was addressing the Nelson Mandela Founda-tion meeting in Nairobi over the weekend.

Girl drowns
JINJA — A Senior four student on Monday evening drowned near the Owen Falls Dam bridge. Janet Kabalanze, a student at Njeru Secondary School, had gone swimming with two other students when the incident occurred. The school is on the periphery of the river Nile in Njeru town council. The Police are yet to retrieve the body. 

Tsetse nets
SOROTI — The district has given out 10,000 tsetse trap nets to Serere and Kasilo counties to control and eliminate the flies, the LC5 chairman has said. Capt. Emily Otekat was recently speaking to journalists in an interview at his office in the municipality.
