BUTEBO County MP Dr. Steven Malinga has scoffed at the recent resolutions by some sub-counties in Pallisa district to re-demarcate their boundaries in a step to the creation of a proposed new district.
He said the resolutions were a manipulation by some politicians to distort the current establishment of constituencies in the district for selfish reasons.
Malinga said sub-county and district councillors were manipulated to accept the re-demarcation without consulting residents.
“I understand money changed hands. When I went for consultation, people in Kabwangasi sub-county told me they want to be in the mother Pallisa district,†Malinga said in an interview recently. He said Kakoro sub-county residents demanded that their councillors rescind a decision to amalgamate with Budaka county.
The LC5 chairman, Bob Wasugirya, however, said the re-demarcation was referred to the sub-counties and criticised Malinga and Pallisa County MP Louis Opange for inciting people over the matter.
