Villa wins CECAFA club championship

BERNARD Mwalala’s two goals and another from Robert Sentongo earned SC Villa the CECAFA club championship title and $30,000 (sh55m) in Mwanza yesterday.
Villa beat Rwandan club APR 3-0 to secure the Ugandan champions their third title and only the fourth for the country, in the regional club tournament’s history. The Jogoos won it in 1987 and 2003.
Villa’s win capped a memorable campaign for Kenyan-born striker Mwalala, who finished as top scorer with six goals, and for goalkeeper Denis Onyango who did not concede a single goal. They finished the tournament unbeaten. Villa return to Entebbe at 1:00pm today.
