Kasaija sweeps Kinyara Open, consolidates UGU table lead

STEPHEN Kasaija shot a closing round 2-under-par 69 to win the Kinyara golf Open that was played under a downpour. 
Kasaija, who started the closing round three shots off the pace, stabilised as his rivals slipped down the leader board yesterday. 
The victory, his fourth of the five UGU events, consolidated Kasaija’s lead in the Uganda Golf Union (UGU) stroke play championship.  “I am so happy to come back into the game and win, rain messed me up on Saturday,†Kasaija said.  
Denis Anguyo settled for second position, two shots behind Kasaija. Godfrey Mande, who led day one, faltered on the final day.
The two-day tournament was sponsored by United Assurance. 
Next on the UGU calendar is Lira Open due June 4-5.   
Sam Zaramba won one of the MTN-Ericsson Corporate Golf Day awards on Saturday after he carded 35 stable ford points at the Entebbe club course. 
Entebbe’s Orach-Meza fired 38 to take another award. Prizes included Ericsson mobile phones. 
In the ladies event, Cecilia Lwanga was in good shape at 36 points.
