A jackfruit is a wonder medicine for a number of phobias. A phobia is a persistent fear of an object or situation that presents no actual danger to the person, or in which the danger is magnified out of all proportion.

The common phobias in Uganda include: fear of heights, closed places like lifts, fear of storms, thunder, lightening, fear of blood, germs, solitude, darkness, crowds, disease, fire, syphilis and animals.

Some people scream and are frightened out of their skins by such harmless reptiles like a chameleon, a caterpillars, or a lizard, a rat and a spider both in reality and dreams. They get an irrational fear that, in many cases, cramp and restrict their life for decades.
Phobia becomes a central feature in their neurotic lifestyle, which gets characterised by irrational fears and avoidance behaviours.

When fears reach that stage, they are called phobias. People with phobias usually show a wide range of symptoms such as tension, headaches, back pains, stomach upsets, dizzy spells and fear of cracking up.

The study of phobias is relatively new. Even in developed countries like USA, studies started just in the 1980s.
According to Harvard Medical School Health letter of August 1979, tranquillisers and antipsychotic drugs are not effective.

Anti-anxiety drugs may reduce the feeling of restlessness and agitation or slow mental activity, but often, they produce drowsiness and can lead to apathy.

There is also the risk of psychological and physical dependence, especially for regular users or when taken in large doses. So, fearful people can turn to natural therapy: The jackfruit.

Widely available in central Uganda, the fruit, presents an amazing cure and can even transform this country into the world centre for treatment of phobias.
Because a major characteristic of phobia-laden people is inadequate sugar, eating jackfruits often will provide quick or instant recovery, calm down anxiety, high sensitivities, and illnes.

A jackfruit is rich in sugars and fibre, low on starch and fats, is easily digested, not addictive and has no side effects. It releases the tension in the nerves and muscles and with time, reduces phobias by half and even cures the associated diseases.

Yet, in spite of the fruit’s being widely available, there are many bright, capable and apparently normal Ugandans, estimated at between one million to six million, who suffer from seemingly silly and unexplainable exaggerated fears.

Although phobia is common among adolescents and young adults, its prevalent is more among females than males, possibly because strong fears have traditionally been more compatible with female roles in society.

However, before taking jackfruit medication, test the sugar content in your blood because the sugars in the jackfruit are not good for diabetics.

It is, however, good to eat only a ripe jackfruit.

Other fruits like ripe bananas and sugarcane can also work in this regard, but all of them come second to jack fruits.

The amount of progress made during treatment often depends on the degree of support from a spouse or family.
Be open to people around you about the problem rather than hiding it.

Do not feel embarrassed to tell someone about the problem if you have. You can also change your diet. Eat many small meals and something sweet before you sleep.
