CHEERS and ululations greeted the 11-member Uganda delegation to the 30th anniversary Africa Travel Association (ATA) congress in Nairobi on Monday when it was formally admitted into the ATA family, thus becoming the 17th member.

The ATA Uganda chapter president, Susan Muhwezi, led the delegation to the Nairobi conference centre, the venue for Uganda’s entry into the New York-based group.

Muhwezi, who represented tourism state minister Jovino Akaki, said Uganda’s entry into ATA would boost the country’s tourism development.

“Uganda’s showcasing with ATA brings hope of future growth of a country endowed with unique resources like Gorillas,” she said.
