THE Army Council sits tomorrow at the army headquarters in Bombo with the main focus on indiscipline in the army, military sources said yesterday.

Emmy Allio reports that the issue of the detained Brig. Henry Tumukunde and controversies surrounding presidential assistant Maj. Roland Kakooza Mutale are expected to be debated.

A source said the council would come up with further guidelines on how soldiers should conduct themselves during the electioneering process.

Army spokesman Major Shaban Bantariza (left) said, “I cannot say whether the issue of Tumukunde will be on the agenda. I think the issue of general indiscipline in the army will come up.”

Another source said the council would also debate the concerns of the army Promotions and Recruitment Board (PRB), which recently wrote to the commander-in-chief, President Yoweri Museveni, about the behaviour of some officers like Mutale, who issue controversial statements.

The PRB, chaired by army commander, Lt. Gen. Aronda Nyakairima, asked Museveni to retire Mutale to protect the image of the UPDF.
