This movie is a fairy tale, like beauty and the beast. Ever seen that cartoon? It involves a fat ugly ogre and a beautiful princess.
But, this ogre in Shrek is a little different. He lives in a peaceful swamp and minds his own business, far from the village troublemaker. Until the ruler of his land, prince Farquaad orders all the creatures living in his village be chased to Shrek’s humble and quiet, swamp.
shrek finds himself getting many unwanted visitors. The most annoying is the talkative donkey that had originally escaped the prince’s demands and had found Shrek along the road, and just stayed.
So shrek is in trouble. People, fairy tale creatures, and fairy tale animals are everywhere.
The wolf from little Red Riding Hood is in his bed smoking a cigar, the seven dwarfs store snowy’s casket on Shrek’s dinner table, the Three Blind Mice run about breaking things with their guide sticks and chomping on his ear while the rest of the bedtime gang is gathered in front of his yard.
Shrek finds nothing else to do. He has to go and make the prince reverse his orders. Shrek does not know where the nasty prince lives. He needs help. But that annoying little donkey that will not leave knows where the prince is. Shrek reluctantly accepts the donkey to escort him.
So together shrek and the little donkey go to the prince. Prince Farquaad does not welcome them, but agrees to return the land to the ogre on condition that the ogre accepts a mission of fetching his queen to be (princess Fiona), the woman he has chosen to be his bride. So shrek and the little donkey set off for the mission.
The cartoons in the movie are voiced by Mike Myers (shrek); Eddie Murphy (the talkative donkey); Cameron Diaz (Princess Fiona) and Julie Andrews who acted in Sound Of Music.
