PASSENGERS from Africa will enjoy various services from major airports and airlines around the world following the appointment of Kenya Airways (KQ) as one of the first four associate members of the Sky Team Associate Programme.

Sky Team is the biggest global airline alliance partnering nine members like KLM, the Dutch Royal Airline, Air France, Continental Airlines, Korea Airlines, Aero Mexico and CSA Czech Airlines.

Leo Van Wijk, the KLM chief executive, announced the partnership at a press conference at the Hilton Hotel in Amsterdam last week.

He said Copa Airlines, Tarom and Air Europa of Spain had started the process of meeting the necessary operational service standards.
