Barclays, American Express tie up

BARCLAYCARD and American Express recently signed an agreement to enable Barclaycard exclusively acquire and process American Express card transactions in select African countries.

BARCLAYCARD and American Express recently signed an agreement to enable Barclaycard exclusively acquire and process American Express card transactions in select African countries.

The service which commenced in Uganda on June 1, will also benefit Kenya, Tanzania, Botswana, Malawi, Zambia, Seychelles, Ghana and Gambia.
The partnership will exclusively provide Barclaycard Merchant Services.

Merchant customers will benefit from a single acquiring relationship, which will offer services with major card schemes including American Express and full customer market servicing and support available by calling Nairobi and a 24-hour card authorisations.
