American medics donate drugs to displaced persons in Lira district
LIRA district has received a consignment of drugs, equipment and textbooks worth US $27,000 (sh48m) from North West Medical Team of the USA.
By Alex Ocen and A. Ogwang LIRA district has received a consignment of drugs, equipment and textbooks worth US $27,000 (sh48m) from North West Medical Team of the USA. The donation is to support health units in internally displaced persons’ (IDPs) in camps. The items were donated through the Path Ministries International (PMI). NWMT programme manager in Lira Felix Omodo handed over the items at a function held at the PMI premises in Lira municipality on Tuesday. The district director of health services, Dr. Peter Kusolo, received the items. Omodo said the consignment was for the improvement of health services in IDP camps in and around Lira district. “In most cases many health units are unable to deliver certain services due to lack of medical equipment and drugs and that is why we want to support them to enable the IDPs receive improved services,†he said.
