ANNET Kabasindi and Patrick Kibwota hit the qualifying mark for the 2006 Commonwealth Games at the MTN-sponsored Akii Bua memorial on Saturday.
In front of a fully packed John Akii Bua stadium in Lira that also saw the 1972 400m gold medalist’s mother and brothers watch the event, the two javelin throwers excelled in the last national trial.
Kabasindi threw 51.41m to beat the qualifying standard of 49.58m for the Melbourne games.
“I have been training hard and I am happy UAF managed to support the KIU team after we were denied facilitation,” Kabasindi said.
Patrick Kibwota threw 65.77m, well inside the qualifying mark of 64.43m.
