IBF junior middleweight champion Kassim ‘The President’ Ouma makes his second mandatory defence against Russian Roman ‘Made in Hell’ Karmazin on July 15 at the Orleans Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

This will be the first fight the Ugandan pugilist will feature in under his new promoters Golden Boy Promotions, who are also handling undisputed world middleweight champion Bernard Hopkins, Oscar De La Hoya and WBC super featherweight champion Marco Antonio Barrera.

Uganda’s 26-year-old sportsman of the year, said he is in shape and will easily beat his Russian opponent.

“I don’t need to see tapes of my opponent to know him,” Ouma said in Florida.

“I need to see him in the ring and then I’ll figure him out. I don’t know if he’s southpaw or orthodox,” he added.

The Florida-based fighter is 21(13 KOS) 1-1 while his Russian challenger is 33(21 KOS) 1-1.

Ouma made his first defence against Ghana’s Kofi Jantuah in a thrilling fight early this year.

A former child soldier, Ouma captured the world title from Verno Phillips on points in October last year. He is the fourth Ugandan to hold a world title after John ‘The Beast’ Mugabi, Boza Edwards and Ayub Kalule.
