SIR — I am a resident of Kanyanya near Kampala. On March 4 and April 11, i wrote to the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) to help us and give us water but nothing at all has ever been done about it.

We last got piped water on Easter Sunday in March and most annoying is that early this month i received a bill of sh8540 yet my last bill was -sh3350 without water! When I complained, I was told that the difference covered the ‘service fee’. what is the service fee for if we don’t get water?
We are even overcharged because the service fee is supposed to be sh1,500! We also pay the same tariffs like the lucky ones living 25 miles from Kampala! National Water, what formula do use to serve your customers?
