DORCUS Inzikuru continued with her build-up to August’s World Athletics Championship by winning her race at the Josef Odlozil Memorial Grand Prix II in Czech Republic on Monday night.
The 23-year-old’s time was five seconds slower than the 3000m steeplechase African record of 9:15.04 which she set in Athens early this month. The time also remains the fastest in the world this year.
Uganda’s other runner Wilson Busienei finished sixth in the 10000m in 28:08.40.
* MTN Yello will colour the Mayan race set to tap talent in the West Nile region on Saturday. Stars from the West Nile districts of Moyo, Arua, Yumbe, Adjumani and Nebbi in particular, and others from Kampala, compete on the ground that groomed ‘Arua Gazelle’ Inzikuru.
UAF secretary Beatrice Ayikoru confirmed that the top athletes will win cash prizes and other incentives from sponsors MTN.
