OVER 17m Euros has been earmarked to facilitate rehabilitation and expansion of health training institutions.

The Development Human Resource for Health project coordinator in the education ministry, Dr. Jane Egau Okou, said the grant, from the EU, would also cater for private health training institutions.

“Fifteen nursing training institutions are to be rehabilitated and expanded. The ministry has already received the funds,” Egau said.

Egau was on Friday speaking at a five-day workshop for principle tutors for health training institutions at the Crested Crane Hotel in Jinja municipality.

She said, “We are in negotiations with consultancy firms that will design the architectural plans. It’s after this that the work will be tendered out to potential construction firms. Construction is expected to start next year.”
