BECAUSE a man in Tororo ate a rat to stress his need for a district and it was granted, a councillor in Busia district has threatened to eat a raw snake if that is what it takes for the appointing authority to remove resident district commissioner (RDC) George Patrick Bageya.

Geoffrey Wandera said, “Tororo people ate rats and the President responded to their call for a new district but for us we shall eat raw snakes and fish to demonstrate to him that we can no longer tolerate his RDC in Busia.”

Wandera was part of a seven-man delegation led by Busia LC5 chairperson Wanyama Oundo, which presented a petition yesterday to the Office of the President at the Parliament Building.

The Busia district council passed a resolution on May 31 urging the President to transfer Bayeya to another district.
The councillors said Bageya frustrated their efforts to put up a taxi park and a modern market in Busia town.

Wanyama said a month ago, Bageya confiscated a camera and films belonging to an American volunteer, Brendan Bannon.
