A businessman was fined sh200 after he pleaded guilty of adultery, reports Edward Anyoli.
Stephen Mucunguzi admitted to court that he is an adulterous man saying he committed the offence with Joy Bemanya.
Buganda road court Magistrate Emmanuel Baguma ordered Mucunguzi to pay sh200, saying the nature of the offence attracts sh200 or six months imprisonment.
“I have considered the nature of the offence and circumstance under which it was committed. I therefore ordered the accused to pay sh200,” he said.
Baguma gave the alternative sentence after Mucunguzi’s lawyer, Precious Ngabirano, pleaded for a fine, saying section 154 of the Panel Code stipulates that a fine of sh200 be paid in case of adultery.
Mucunguzi broadly smiled after he was asked to pay sh200 instead of serving six months imprisonment.
The state prosecutor, Patricia Cingtho, told a fully-packed court that Mucunguzi was found red-handed making love in a car.
