Uganda and Egypt will later this year sign an agreement on the establishment of a multi-billion shilling agricultural project in West Nile.
The head of the National Wheat Research Programme at the Egyptian Agricultural Research Centre, Prof. Mostafa Azab Mostafa, said the agriculture minister is expected to travel to Egypt in November to sign the agreement, aimed at the production of wheat and other cereals.
Mostafa was meeting Ugandan and Egyptian scientists at Abi Research Institute in Arua district on Tuesday. He led a delegation of agricultural scientists and engineers from Egypt, who were heading to Yumbe district to explore possibilities of setting the project there.
Aringa county MP, also a member of the committee on agriculture, Haruna Alonga Othman, accompanied the team.
Also on the Egyptian team was the general director foreign relations (Africa cooperation) department in the ministry of agriculture, Eng. Mohamed Abd el Aziz Mandour, the head of statistics department.
