Olum was on Saturday addressing Pabbo camp residents. Museveni visited the camp on Saturday, while on a nationwide campaign for the referendum.

Poll welcome
THE Vice-President, Prof. Gilbert Bukenya, has said the July 28 referendum will stop internal wrangles in the National Resistance Movement. Bukenya told a rally at Boma Grounds in Kumi district on Saturday that the door would always be open for those wishing to leave or to rejoin the Movement, a statement from his office said.

Besigye raps
THE Forum for democratic Change leader, Col. Dr. Kizza Besigye, has said he will only return to Uganda when the government stops harassing the opposition. Speaking from South Africa on a local northern FM Radio, Wa, on Friday, Besigye said the referendum was aimed at stealing taxpayers' money.

Chameleone's sh2.8m debt
LOCAL musician Jose Chameleon has pledged to refund Ksh123,000 (sh2.8m) to Nairobi organisers after he failed to honour a recent show at Roasters Inn. The managing director Friends for Development Interna-tional, Betty Nanjala, said the money was to take 32 children to Scotland and that Chameleon was paid the money as advance to participate in the event.

MPs meet
PRESIDENT Yoweri Museveni on Friday met MPs from Karamoja sub-region at State House, Nakasero. They included the Minister of State for Karamoja Development, Peter Lokeris. The President and the legislators discussed the on-going disarmament exercise in Karamoja.

Premier back
KATIKKIRO Joseph Ssemwogerere on Friday morning returned from a three-week visit to the US and Britain. Ssemwogerere, who arrived at Entebbe International airport at 5:45am, was received by Mengo minister for protocol Ahmed Bamweyana.
He met Baganda living in the UK led by Musisi Nsambu.

Youth jailed
A 19-year-old youth who had sex with a 16-year-old girl has been sentenced to two years imprisonment. Prosecution on Friday told court presided over by Justice Vincent Zehukirize that Moses Kabayi made the girl pregnant between December 2001 and January 2002 after luring her with money.

Kenya fraud
A UGANDAN, Henry Jackson Abuneri and a Kenyan, Kimani Kamunya were on Friday arraigned in a Nairobi court for attempting to swindle a Chartered House Bank manager of Ksh2m (about sh46m).

Tension up
MBALE - Bubulo East MP George Wopuwa has accused opposition politicians of causing the wrangles that are threatening to tear apart the newly-created Manafwa district. After Parliament recently approved the creation of Manafwa district, politicians in Manjiya and Bubulo counties, which make up the district, started arguing over which county should host the district headquarters.

Defection due
KASESE - Forum for Democratic Change stalwart christopher kibanzanga, is considering joining the National resistance movement, the chairperson Kasese parliamentarians Group, Apprunalis Kalibogha, has said. He was on Thursday addressing the district Movement Conference at Verina Gardens. Four of the five MPs from the district are Movementists, Kalibogha said.

Bogere better
KAMPALA - Army MP Col. Fred Bogere was on Saturday shifted from the Intensive Care Unit in ward 1C, Mulago Hospital, after doctors said his condition was steadily improving. Bogere was admitted to Mulago last Wednesday, where Case Clinic, Buganda Road, referred him with a heart complication.

MP criticises
MUKONO - Instead of wasting funds on canvassing for political support, the Government should fund cooperative societies, Nakifuma county MP Joseph Mugambe has said. Mugambe was on Saturday addressing his constituents at Nakifuma trading centre.
