PRIME Minister Prof. Apolo Nsibambi has warned politicians against politicising the death of Sudanese vice-president John Garang.

Addressing Parliament during a motion moved to honour Garang, Nsibambi yesterday said, “Some people are making cheap political statements. They should apologise to God, Garang’s relatives and all Ugandans.”

Nsibambi said, “Garang had many good attributes. He demonstrated that academics can build good leaders. He was a good listener, a good team worker, and he understood the people’s needs.

“He also facilitated national integration because as he fought against economic and political marginalisation of southern Sudan, he never advocated for secession.

He also assisted Uganda in denying Kony sanctuary in Sudan.”
