By James Oloch TARMACKING the Lira bus park has hit a snag following a disagreement between the contractor, JB United Civil engineering and municipal authorities over a sh64m demand for variation fees. The park was supposed to be tarmacked at sh104m and the work was commissioned by the mayor, Peter Owiny, three months ago. Owiny said on Monday that the contractor was supposed to complete the work in five weeks but abandoned it and demanded sh64m. Owiny convened a meeting last Friday to sort out the issue but the two parties failed to agree. Ojwina division council rejected the contractor’s new demand for more money, saying the contractor had breached the agreement. Johnson Ochol, the managing director of JB United, said he was forced to write the variation citing increment in material costs. He said the quotation was under-estimated. Ends
