MUKONO – Residents of Seeta were astonished when students of Data processing Institute abandoned the school alleging they were haunted by demons. They said they were scared by the frequent irritating barking dog-like noises in the school compound. They also said they ran away because they did not know what caused the strange noises.

LUGAZI – Students of Lugazi Mixed SSS have launched a free weekly newspaper called Lugazi News Network. The newspaper’s managing director also the deputy headmaster of the school, Yusuf Luwangula, said over sh100m has been earmarked to kick-start the paper. He added that they have been able to start the paper from the contributions made by parents, the school and well-wishers.

Youths rescued
KAMPALA – Unemployed youths will soon have cause to smile with the opening of a self-help project at Sharing Youth Centre in Nsambya.
Abdul Hamid Aboo, the Rotary Club district governor of District 9200, opened the project dubbed Centennial 2005 last week. He urged the youth to properly utilise the facilities.
The facilities that include two carpentry workshops, a metal workshop and computer room are meant to curb unemployment.

School gets computer lab
MUKONO – Mayor Muyanja Senyonga has commissioned a sh50m computer laboratory at St John primary school in Namuyenje.
The commissioning took place during the school’s education day celebrations held recently. Senyonga said computer literacy had stopped being a reserve for top grade schools and instead was a necessity for all levels of schools in the world. “We have realised that computer literacy across the world today has ceased to be for top grade schools only.
