THE Bishop of Masaka diocese, John Baptist Kaggwa, has asked the Government to channel entandikwa funds through the church because it was the best institution to recover the loans.

Kaggwa was on Sunday leading a mass to celebrate Masaka diocese youth day at Mannya parish church in Kifamba sub-county, Rakai district.

He said the church was most reliable in matters of transparency.

Kaggwa attacked the ABC (Abstain, Be faithful or use Condoms) approach to fighting Aids, saying condom use should be replaced with Christ.

He said condoms were putting people at risk, given the fact that some of them were discovered to be unsafe.

Lt. Gen. Salim Saleh, who also attended the mass, told the youth to stop begging and work if they are to command respect in society.

Saleh said it would make no sense for the youth to beg for handouts when they put in little effort towards developing themselves and the nation.

He was addressing over 700 Christian youth from Masaka diocese.

He told the people of Mannya that if he asked them to sell to him all the coffee they had, they would not be able to raise a sack from their produce.

“Why do you cry of poverty when you don’t even have the produce to sell?” Saleh asked.

He was responding to Col. Elly Kayanja’s request for him (Saleh) to help the youth in Rakai start up projects to fight poverty.
Saleh, however, said he and Kayanja would start a project, Okozeewo ki? (what have you achieved) to help them fight poverty.
