Have you been wondering how you can get rid of those wrinkles, sagging breasts or sagging flesh on your neck, among others?
Well, you do not have to go abroad. Dr Zeeman Reinder, a senior consultant in plastic and reconstructive Surgery from Netherlands, is in the country to carry out reconstructive, cosmetic and hand surgeries.
The doctor, who initiated the Burns Unit at Mulago Hospital, handles charity cases like surgery for rebel victims, who have been maimed(whose lips have been cut off).
Zeeman is carrying out the following procedure:

Reconstructive surgery
  • Cleft lip and palate surgery
  • Breast reduction and breast reconstruction
  • Ear correction (bad ears protruding)
  • Skin tumours (keloids).

    Cosmetic Surgery
  • Liposuction (removal of excess fatty tissue) of the abdomen, hips and legs
  • Face, neck lifting (if you have sagging skin around these areas)
  • Breast augmentation with silicon breast implants. Breast lifting for sagging breasts
  • Removal of eye bags (sagging fat under the eyes)
  • Lifting of upper eyelids
  • Nose correction
  • Scars, moles removal.
According to Zeeman, you can have breast implants for up to 15 years before replacement is required. The cosmetic surgery fee is from sh1m and above, depending on the case. But charity cases for desperate, but poor patients are considered. Zeeman carries out the surgeries at International Hospital Kampala and Mulago Hospital. He is the one who volunteered to work on Agnes, the woman from Gulu, who had asymmetric and enlarged breasts (The New Vision August 6). Surgeries normally last between one and three hours depending on the case and you can be discharged after a week.
