STUDENTS of Seeta High School in Mukono district on Tuesday donated sh230,000 to Rogers Ddumba, the 12-year-old boy who has lived with his intestines hanging out.

They also gave him an assortment of scholastic and household materials.
The students, led by their teacher, Lydia Kagoye, took the items to Kadic Hospital in Bukoto, a Kampala city suburb and handed them over to an excited Ddumba in the presence of the hospital administrator, Steven Mutyaba and matron, Christine Nakibuuka.

“We read about his condition in the newspaper (The New Vision) and were touched. I thought that if everybody can contribute, we can come to his rescue,” John Baptist Nayine, who spoke on behalf of a delegation of over 30 students, said.

Nakibuuka said Ddumba had not been operated on yet because various doctors and specialists are carrying out investigations into his condition. “A lot of investigation about him has to be done. God bless you for your gesture,” she said.

Mutyaba hailed the students for the solidarity shown for their fellow student.

“Kadic has offered to support the boy out of the problem. Many friends have come asking, ‘has the operation been done?’ Rogers’ problem needs a lot of partnership and cost-sharing. I want to convey our sincere appreciation for the solidarity and support you have given,” Mutyaba said.

He advised students to bank the money on account number 0150112969000 in the names of Rogers Ddumba, that was opened by Standard Chartered Bank, Main Branch.
