THE Wera sub-county councillor, John Adiama Ekaju, was on Thursday elected the interim-LC5 chairman for the newly-created Amuria district.
By John Omoding THE Wera sub-county councillor, John Adiama Ekaju, was on Thursday elected the interim-LC5 chairman for the newly-created Amuria district. Ekaju was finance secretary of Katakwi district from which Amuria district was created. He polled eight votes against his opponent, Moses Eceru Aga, the Morungatuny sub-county councillor, who got five votes. All the 13 councillors from Amuria, who have been in Katakwi district council and who formed the electoral college, participated in the secret ballot elections, presided over by Peter Omolo and Katakwi returning officer John Okolimo.  Environment state minister Jeje Odongo, area MP Ben Etonu, Katakwi district chairman Steven Ilemu-korit and chief administrative officer Nicholas Muron Ocakara witnessed the elections. Ends
